We started Growndworks because we saw too many yards left with ugly stumps and too many homeowners told to wait weeks for a crew. We fix that.
Our Story
Growndworks was founded in Geneva, IL by a team that grew up working outdoors — mowing, landscaping, and eventually tree work. We noticed that stump removal was always the afterthought: slow, expensive, and often left half-done.
So we specialized. We invested in the right equipment, built a process around speed and cleanliness, and focused exclusively on stump grinding. No upsells, no unnecessary services — just stumps, done right.
Today we serve residential homeowners, commercial property managers, and golf course superintendents across Chicagoland and southern Wisconsin. Every job gets the same attention: show up on time, grind it clean, and leave the yard better than we found it.

Our Equipment: The Bandit GS40
The Bandit GS40 is a commercial-grade self-propelled stump grinder built for professional use. Its powerful cutting wheel removes stumps quickly and grinds below the surface to prevent regrowth — typically 6 to 12 inches below grade.
What sets the GS40 apart is its combination of power and access. It's compact enough to fit through a standard gate and navigate tight residential yards, yet powerful enough to handle the largest stumps on commercial properties and golf courses.
